Kerala Woman Free Bus Travel Scheme, starting from 15th June in KSRTC Ordinary Buses

The Kerala Government announced a new scheme for the women of the State. The scheme is introduced with the name of Kerala Woman Free Bus Travel Scheme 2026. All the eligible women beneficiaries will be allowed to travel in all the KSRTC Ordinary Buses. The scheme is going to be implemented in the state phase-wise. So in the 1st phase, the women will get the free travel services from the side of the government in all the ordinary KSRTC Buses.

At present, in the starting phase of this scheme, the government allows the first 100 days’ benefits of this scheme to the women. All the women in the first 100 days are allowed to travel free of cost only in the ordinary buses of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation. After the 100 days, the government extended the benefits and more services to the women, like can travel in fast and super fast buses of the state.

Kerala Woman Free Bus Travel Scheme

This scheme is introduced by the Transport Minister of Kerala state, CP John, and the CM of the state also allow to implement this scheme in the state. This scheme is going to provide the benefits of Free Bus Travel from 15^th June 2026. Which means the Kerala Woman Free Bus Travel Scheme is going to be implemented in the state from June 15, 2026. The first 100 days are the trial of this scheme. This scheme is also one of the major promises made during the election.

Objective of the Kerala Government Women Travel Scheme

By launching this scheme, the government wants to motivate the people of the state to use the government transport. In the first 100 days of this scheme, the government will get a review of the passengers, and after that, they will extend the benefits of the scheme. In the first 100 trial days of the scheme, the Transport Minister also told the officials to check the financial impact on the state government in the same period.

After getting the review from the first day, the government made the decision to start the 2nd phase. There are a total of 23 lakhs citizens of the state who travel in KSRTC buses, and among them, 10 to 12 lakhs women are daily travellers.

Features of Kerala Women’s Free Bus Travel Scheme

• Official Date of Roll Out Scheme: The meeting was conducted to implement this scheme on June 8, and now the scheme starts providing the benefits from June 15.
• Beneficiaries Targeted: Only the women beneficiaries of the Kerala state are focused on by the government to provide them with free bus travel benefits.
• Initial Phase of Scheme: The scheme is implemented in the state phase-wise. So in the 1st phase, the 100 days of free travel benefits were given to the women.
• Restricted Rules: In the first phase or Initial Phase of this scheme, the government provide the benefits only in ordinary bus services of the KSRTC.
• Additional Benefits: Later, the government, after the 100 days of this scheme, will add other benefits, like can travel in Fast and Super Fast buses.

Eligibility Criteria For Women

• The scheme is only applicable to women all across the state of Kerala.
• Apart from women beneficiaries, there is no eligibility Criteria for Caste or income status set by the government.
• Later, the government provided the Smart Card for this scheme, which is linked with the Aadhar Card of the women. The government wants to misuse the card.

Documents Required

At the time of travel, you only need to carry your government-issued photo Identity Card, like:-

• Aadhaar Card
• Voter Card
• PAN Card
• Driving Licence

How to Apply for the Kerala Woman Free Bus Travel Scheme?

There is no need to apply for this scheme. The scheme is only going to provide the benefits to the women of the state. So it is very important for all the women who want to get benefits from this scheme to carry any of the government-issued ID cards with them. And while travel shows the same as and when demanded by the bus operators.

How to Get a Kerala Women Free Bus Travel Smart Card?

As and when the first initial stage of the scheme was completed, the government decided to provide the smart card. All the smart cards can be issued after filling the form, and the same are linked with the Aadhar Card of the woman. Kindly wait for the next announcement.
