Pradhan Mantri Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojana is a scheme that is implemented by the Government of India. This scheme is specially designed for the Tea Garden worker, their wife and their children’s welfare. This scheme provides the benefits for the Education and Health welfare of the women and Kids of the Tea Garden workers. Recently, this scheme has also been launched in the West Bengal state, and the government also allocated a budget of Rs.313.30 Crore. The scheme was announced in the West Bengal state by the Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. West Bengal Pradhan Mantri Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojana
Recently there is another central government scheme, i.e. Pradhan Mantri Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojana, was launched in the state of West Bengal by the Chief Minister of the state. While implementing this scheme, the government also announced a Rs.313.30 Crore budget for the education and healthcare facilities of North Bengal’s Tea Garden Workers. In the Rs.313.30 Crore budget amount, Rs.177 Crore will be used to boost education, Rs.72 Crore can be used for healthcare facilities for the beneficiaries, and Rs.63 Crore can be used for a resting shed.

Objective of WB Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojana
This Scheme specially focused on the overall comprehensive development of the workers and their families. By allocating the budget, the government wants to boost the education and health care facilities for the tea garden workers in West Bengal. Beneficiaries must be focused on the North Bengal area. It is very difficult for the tea garden workers to access health and education for their kids. That’s why the government is now trying to improve the learning and educational infrastructure for the tea garden workers’ kids.
Features of Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojana
- Beneficiaries Covered: This scheme specially covers the North Bengal area’s Tea Garden Worker their families. Mainly focused on women workers and their Kids.
- Total Budget: At the time of announcing this scheme in the state of West Bengal, the CM also allocated a budget of Rs.313.30 Crore.
- Budget Usages: This scheme having special three features as given below:-
- Cha Shramik Shiksha Yojana: To improve the educational Infrastructure and provide educational opportunity budget of Rs.177 Crore can be used.
- Cha Shramik Health Care Yojana: To provide better healthcare services, Rs.72 Crore can be used.
- Cha Shramik Aashray Yojana: to construct resting sheds in the tea garden all over the area, a total of 63 Crore rupees was used, and free drinking facilities and resting places with good floor also available for them.
- North Bengal Area Targeted: Jalpaiguri Division, Alipurduar in North Bengal.
Eligibility Criteria for the Scheme
- All the tea garden workers in North Bengal are eligible for this scheme.
- The occupation of the applicant must be permanently or temporary Tea Gardens worker.
- You must be registered as Tea Garden workers in the Targeted area of the state.
- A scheme specially providing benefits to the women workers and their children.
- The family members of all registered Tea Garden workers also get the benefits in the health care and educational sectors.
Documents Required
This scheme has three sub-schemes. So whenever you are going to apply for any of the sub-schemes, you need to prepare the documents to get benefits from the scheme.
- For the Cha Shramik Shiksha Yojana, you have to submit the school enrolment certificate of the children. The kids who are studying in government-affiliated schools are eligible for this scheme, which is available in the same area. To provide the educational benefits, the government also verified the parent’s identification as a Tea Garden worker.
- To get the benefits of the Cha Shramik Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, the Tea Garden workers have to submit the details of their family members, like their Aadhaar card, etc.
- West Bengal Residence certificate.
- Aadhar Card of every beneficiary.
- Bank account Details for DBT Benefits.

Pradhan Mantri Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojana Apply for Sub-Scheme
To apply for this scheme, there is no online portal yet available. So everyone who wants to get the benefits of Healthcare and Educational Benefits needs to apply through the Local Area Estate Management Department of the state. Steps Given Below:-
- First of all, you have to check your Tea Garden worker enrolment. Then have to collect your ID Card as a worker.
- At the time of obtaining the benefits for your Kids and Family members, you also have to submit the Identity proof of your family members.
- For Education benefits of you kids, you have to contact your local schools in the area and then get the details of the scheme.
- To get the application form, you need to contact the NBDD, i.e., the North Bengal Development Department of the state.
