Atal Vichal Agragami Assam Scheme 2026: Monthly Stipend For Research Scholars, Eligibility

The State Government started the Atal Vichal Agragami Assam Scheme, in which they provide financial support for research Scholars. This is a financial assistance program in which the government will offer 25000 rupees per month to research Scholars of Assam. This scheme will help them to continue their research activity and academic work. If any research scholar is disabled, the financial support amount is increased.

For disable scholar, the monthly assistance amount is 40,000 rupees, so they can get a chance to continue their studies as a normal scholar. The main motive behind the launch of this game is to remove all the financial burdens, promote research work and retain their academic Talent inside the state. This will also help in the field of innovation. This scheme was officially launched in the month of February 2026 by the chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Research Scholars in India are always facing Financial crisis when they try to pursue research work. This is due to a lack of and not getting the ecosystem that they needed. After completing their highest studies, like post-graduation and PhD, if they want to go for research work, then there are very limited resources available, such as UGC-NET JRF. Most of the time, researchers criticise for not receiving sufficient funds continue their academic and research work.

In the month of January, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a very important scheme for research Scholars. Under this scheme, the government will provide financial support for research Scholars. This scheme is announced with the name of Atal Vichal Agragami Assam. Under this scheme, selected research Scholars will get a financial support of 25000 rupees monthly and Differently abled scholars will get financial support of rupees 40000 rupees monthly. The main aim behind the launch of the scheme is to encourage high-quality research, empower local talent and also promote innovation across disciplines.

When a researcher starts their research work, they need a lot of things like books, study material, fieldwork, and living costs. So they need a good amount so they can easily continue their work. Now, the Assam government understand this situation and has launched the Atal Vichal Agragami Assam Scheme. This is a state government scheme in which the support is directly given to the state researchers while giving them a monthly stipend. Officially, the scheme was announced on 21st of January 2026, by the chief minister of Assam on his social media account. Officially, the scheme was launched in the month of February 2026.

Motive of the scheme

• The main motive of the scheme is to remove Financial barriers for a researcher. The government provides monthly financial support to researchers so they can continue their research work without any financial barriers.
• With this scheme, some governments promote the research work. Take also promote disabled research Scholars by giving them 40,000 rupees monthly for the research work.
• With the scheme, it will show the Assam government about higher studies and research work. They try to promote research work and empower their researchers.
• Empowering local talent and preventing their talent from brain drain. Researchers of Assam get good Financial support from their government, so they do not have to migrate from their state, and they also work more effectively as compared to other states

Financial Support Amount

The scheme is divided into categories, in which one are normal Scholars and the second category is Differently-Abled scholars. So the financial amount is also different and is mentioned below:-

• Regular Research Scholar: 25,000 rupees per month
• Differently-Abled Research Scholar: 40,000 rupees per month

Scholars can use this support amount to cover their daily expenses, research material, data collection, living costs, and field work. Scholars also need a good laptop when they need to do any type of research work. A Differently-Abled research scholar needs more financial support because travel expense living expenses are more as compared to a normal research scholar. So it is a very good decision taken by the state government.

Eligibility Criteria For Atal Vichal Agragami Assam Scheme

• The applicant who wants to apply for the Atal Vichal Agragami Assam Scheme must be a regular research scholar and enrol in any recognised University in the state.
• The scheme targets research Scholars who are pursuing their PhD or equivalent research-level academic program.
• The applicant university or Institute we will be located inside the Assam state.
• Under this scheme, priority will be given to permanent residents of or they can enroll assam State University or its institutes.
• Physically or intellectually disabled research Scholars eligible to enhance their monthly stipend up to 40 000 rupees.
• If any research scholar is already receiving any type of stipend from the central government, like UGC NET JRF, CSIR fellowship are not eligible for this scheme.

How to apply for the Atal Vichal Agragami Assam Scheme?

• For registration, you have to visit the Assam Higher Education Department website.
• For registration, firstly, you have to create an account with your mobile number, email address and Aadhaar Number.
• Now fill the application form with all details, research program details, your Institute name, guide name and bank account information.
• Finally, you have to upload all your necessary documents, which are required to verify.
• Submit your application form and download the acknowledgement receipt.
