For the past 3 years, the Assam government has helped local talent and Grassroot Enterprises by supporting them through Mukhyamantri Thaluwa Udyog Bikash Asoni. Under this scheme, eligible Artisans will get a grant of up to Rs. 20,000 to buy tools and equipment. They will also get an infrastructure support of up to Rs 15 lakh, which will help them to strengthen the local industry, empowering communities to preserve the local and Heritage of Assam. In the last 3 years, 3,904 beneficiaries have received the benefit of this scheme.

The state government distribute Rs 4.84 Crore to artisans to buy tools and equipment. Each Artisan receive 20 000 rupees under this Scheme. If any artisan needs the infrastructure grant, then an eligible person will get a grant of up to Rs 15 lakh under this scheme. This scheme is implemented by the direct rate of the Industries and Commerce Department of Assam. The target beneficiaries under the scheme are local artisans, micro and grassroot Enterprises, as well as local craftsmen.

Objective of Mukhyamantri Thaluwa Udyog Bikash Asoni

  • Only the permanent residents of Assam are eligible.
  • Applicant must be an artisan, craftsperson, or micro-enterprise owner who is linked with any traditional or grassroots industry.
  • Applicants should be well recognised in their work, such as Japi Making, Bell Metal Working, Bamboo Crafts, Cane Work, Weaving, Pottery, Silk Weaving or similar industry.
  • In this scheme, priority will be given to the economically weaker sections, BPL families and schedule cost and other backward communities.
  • If the applicant has already received any type of financial or infrastructural tool support from any other state in the same Financial year, then the person is not eligible.
  • Applicants who have a valid Aadhaar card that is linked to a bank account are eligible for this scheme.
  • For infrastructure brand applicants should have recognised a local industry unit that is registered with the District Industries Centre.
