Assam Arogya Nidhi (AAN) Scheme 2026: Benefits, Eligibility Criteria

Assam Arogya Nidhi was started by the Assam government. In this scheme, the government will provide financial support up to Rs. 3 lakhs to the BPL families in case of a medical emergency, like general or specialised treatment, life-Threatening disease or injury due to natural or manmade disaters.

In this scheme, the government will cover most of the transplant and mental illness, as well as surgical treatment. This scheme was started under the health and family welfare department of Assam in 2010. BPL families with a monthly income of less than 5 lakhs rupees take benefit. State government also receive funding of 50% from the central government, and the 50% will be given by the state government.

In this scheme, many diseases are covered, like life-threatening, any type of injury due to Natural or man-made disaster or any type of industrial farm, road, or rail accident, etc. Life-Threatening diseases, such as related surgery or disease, kidney-related disease, ortho-related issue, Thallassemia, any type of chronic mental illness treated with surgery, bone marrow transplant or AIDS will be covered in this scheme. When you submit your application under the Assam Arogya Nidhi Scheme, one committee will cross-check your documents and your application.

Motive of the AAN Scheme

  • The main motive to start this scheme is to ensure that any citizen of Assam belong to the BPL will get medical facilities.
  • The government will ensure that low-income family groups will get proper medical treatment as a normal citizen.
  • Under this scheme, the government also ensured that quality treatment would be given to the citizen in a government or private hospital.
  • BPL families get the benefit of the scheme, and it will also cover special categories like artists, sports persons, persons with rare diseases, and literary Persons.

Financial Support For Assam Arogya Nidhi Scheme

The maximum financial support provided in this scheme is 3 lakh rupees. In this scheme, financial assistance is given as reimbursement or given in advance directly to the hospital. The payment mode is online through DBT. In this scheme, three sanction authorities will distribute this amount to the beneficiary. In this scheme, the chairperson of the committee has the authority to give up to 2 lakh rupees. After that, the state-level committee has the authority to give financial support from 2 lakh to 3 lakh rupees. After that, the maximum amount is 3 lakh rupees, which will be sanctioned by the chief minister of Assam. It is a very important point that you should note down that the document older than six months from the date of submission to the mission directorate NHM Assam, will not be considered.

Eligibility Criteria For Arogya Nidhi Scheme

  • Permanent residents are eligible for this scheme.
  • The family income of the applicant is not more than 5 lakh rupees per year.
  • Families below the poverty line are eligible for this scheme.
  • Is no age limit to build this set, so everyone, like adult children and senior citizens, is eligible for this scheme.
  • Literary persons like artists and sports persons are also eligible for this scheme.

Not Eligible

  • State and Central government employees are not eligible for this scheme. Family members of government employees and pensioners are also not eligible.

How to Apply for Assam Arogya Nidhi (AAN) Scheme?

  1. To apply for the AAN Scheme Assam, you have to visit the official website nhm.assam.gov.in and download the  AAN application form. This application form is available in both English and Assamese.
  2. Now fill this application form with all your necessary details and attach all the documents that are already mentioned above.
  3. All the documents that you will attach to this form will be attested.
  4. Submit your application to the Mission Director, NHM, Assam, Saikia Commercial Complex, Christian Basti, Guwahati, or you can submit it to the Joint Director of Health Services in your District.
  5. After the submission, the application forms will go to the specialist doctor at Guwahati Medical College.
  6. The committee will check your application and verify all the details, and then the financial assistance will be transferred directly to the beneficiary or the hospital bank account via DBT Mode.

  • PMJAY/MMJAY Empanelled:- There are so many hospitals that come under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
  • Atal Amrit Abhiyan (AAA):- Hospitals that are enrolled with atal Amrit Abhiyan scheme are also eligible.
